CastleDrama: Reign

Luckily, I don't strive for historical accuracy in period dramas. If I did, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed "Reign" at all. The costumes are cool but nothing like what 16th century Mary, Queen of Scots would have actually worn, King Francis II is alive way too long - and the list goes on. To put it mildly, the creators took historical accuracy and simply ran into the opposite direction. Yet, the CW drama became a bit of a guilty pleasure for me last year when I binge-watched the first two seasons while being sick.

Premiering in 2013, "Reign" consists of three seasons with a fourth commissioned already. It follows the adventures of Mary, Queen of Scots during her years in France. Its period drama meets romantic drama meets teen drama. It's fun and relaxing to watch, just don't expect anything closely resembling Mary's actual life - and you'll enjoy it too.
